About Your Eye Examination
Eye examination at Hazel Smith Opticians is not just about testing your sight for glasses and contact lenses. Our optometrists take their time to examine your eyes comprehensively, including looking for signs of eye diseases and binocular vision problems.
A regular eye examination is important as it can detect early signs of potentially sight-threatening conditions and general health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure. We strongly believe that good vision and healthy eyes lead to a better quality of life.
Children's Eye Care
Children under 16 are entitled to a FREE NHS sight test. Children with a squint or lazy eye can have permanently reduced vision in one or both eyes if this is not diagnosed and treated at an early age. The earlier the problem is detected, the better the treatment outcome. Therefore, we recommend regular sight tests for ALL children, especially if there is a family history of squint or lazy eye. Our optometrists would be able to carry out a sight test even if your child is not able to read or talk.
