Coloured Overlay Assessment
Patients with dyslexia are commonly described as having specific learning difficulties in reading. They may also suffer with visual stress (also known as Meares-Irlen Syndrom) which can cause symptoms such as:
- Discomfort when reading
- Moving letters or words
- Letters changing shape or size
- Glare from page
- Headaches or eye strain
- Difficulty tracking across page
Scientific research has shown that the use of coloured overlays can help some children and adults who suffers from visual stress to read better. It was found that coloured overlays help to reduce the perceptual distortions of text which reduces discomfort when reading and enables more fluent reading.
Coloured overlay assessment is available in our practice. Please contact us at 01983 866023 for an appointment.
